Our Story
The history of fratelliMezzapelle olive oil began in 1997 when father Salvatore and his wife Giacoma Maria Sammartano, purchased the farm of Santo Padre delle Pirriere..
The oil mill was built in the same year, already famous and highly regarded at the time for its exceptional oil, the result of olives cultivated in the distinct microclimate of the sundrenched Marsala, 100 metres above sea level, located about 1 hour south of Palermo.
The first centrifugal system for the extraction of extra virgin olive oil was installed in 1999, bringing to light what is now the most adopted system of extraction. Collaboration with the Amenduni for the experimentation of cutting edge extraction techniques is still active.
The Mezzapelle family – brothers, children and grandchildren – have been raised at the Frantoio fratellimezzapelle oil mill ever since. This monument to industriousness has passed on an authentic art over the years with all its knowledge, skill and competency of cultivating and pressing olives. This art is derived from a combination of the finest tradition of the ancient oil mill - jealously kept in the museum portion of the estate - and constant experimentation and innovation in the fields of production and cultivation.
Salvatore and Giacoma have 8 sons that now are the company's future..
Michele, Giovanni, Elvira, Daniela, Francesco, Diego, Annelisa and Lidia try to keep the tradition that their parents have always put in their factory and in their life..
